BAIL APPLICATIONS
Bail is basically when you make a promise to the Court to appear again on future dates when your case is listed for hearing. When charged with a criminal offence, there are times when you are not granted bail on the spot by the police.
Generally for the more serious offences you will need to make a separate application for bail.
Once making a bail application, it will usually be up to a magistrate or Judge to make a decision if you are granted bail or not. Criminal trials can go on for months or even years, so being granted bail can be extremely important to the individual facing charges.
If you make an unsuccessful bail application, the current bail laws make it extremely difficult to have a second bail application unless you go to the Supreme Court. Therefore it is very important that you don’t lose your chance to get bail.
Arrests frequently occur outside business hours or on weekends. We can be contacted to appoint a lawyer to you, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. An appointed lawyer would be available to appear at bail applications on weekdays and also weekends.
